Food & Drink Festivals

Houston offers a wide range of food and drink festivals throughout the year, with some of the city’s best food festivals being those that highlight the many international cuisines on offer in Houston.

You can also enjoy festivals celebrating regional and American craft beers, international and American wines, spirits and other drinks, or go to one of the several Oktoberfest events held in fall each year.

Music Festivals

Many of the big music festivals in Texas are based in Austin, but Houston still has a few annual events for music fans, with most festivals held in the more clement seasons of spring and fall.

Arts Festivals

Arts festivals in Houston, many of them again held outdoors during the better weather of spring and fall, display the best of the arts scenes of Houston, the state of Texas and from further afield.

As well as festivals that showcase a broader selection of fine arts and crafts (paintings, pottery, etc) there are also several festivals that focus on specific types of art and performing arts such photography, theater, quilt-making, literature, or the arts of people who share a particular heritage or nationality.

Houston also offers a wide range of film festivals, from big festivals showcasing the best of world cinema to those highlighting the film-making of particular cultures, or specific topics and genres such as horror or sports.

During the festive season, Houston offers several big holiday light shows plus special holiday lights at the Houston Botanical Garden and the Houston Zoo, holiday tree displays and neighborhood light displays (River Oaks and The Heights are especially popular).

Other Christmas and holiday events include holiday markets, several holiday home tours in Houston’s historic neighborhoods, the popular Thanksgiving Day Parade, and other community parades and tree-lighting ceremonies, culminating in various fireworks displays and other celebrations to mark the New Year.
