Although Houston does not have the same draw to touring musicians as other Texas cities, it still has a decent concert scene, with a range of venues from intimate bars to huge stadiums attracting many national and international level performers as well as hosting home-grown talent.
Houston’s rap/hip-hop scene is particularly strong, but the city also attracts artists from a diverse range of other musical genres from folk to metal to experimental bands, along with Latina/Latino performers, country music, southern rock and more besides.
Houston’s biggest concert venues are stadiums with space for tens of thousands of spectators, with several other purpose-built concert venues with capacities ranging from the thousands down to small venues that might only hold a couple of hundred people.
There are several outdoor concert venues that are popular in the warmer months, and Houston also has a few performance halls that specialise in classical music.
